What is Iyengar Yoga?
Developed by BKS Iyengar, one of two visionary teachers credited with bringing the practice of yoga to the West; Iyengar yoga focuses on precise body alignment in order to awaken the body’s innate intelligence. Each pose is thoroughly explored and explained, and props such as blocks, blankets and belts are often used to meet the individual needs of the student as he or she moves deeper into the pose.
About Diana Erney
Diana Erney holds Intermediate Junior I level certification from the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States and continues to study and practice under the guidance of her primary teachers Dean and Rebecca Lerner. She has studied with Iyengar family at the Ramamani Memorial Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, India, and attended workshop intensives with internationally renowned teachers such as Lois Steinberg, Gabriella Giubilaro, Patricia Walden, Joan White, Janet MacLeod and many others. A Research Director by day, Diana has a Master's degree in Library and Information Science. She finds that the focus on detail and the beautiful subtleties of the Iyengar method align perfectly with her researcher nature.
